West Seattle Junction FC’s Thrilling Inaugural Match Ends in Draw

A crowd of 863 fans gathered at the Nino Cantu Southwest Athletic Complex on Sunday to watch West Seattle Junction FC’s first-ever competitive match, and they were treated to an exciting 2-2 draw against Capital FC Atletico.

Capital FC, a club with a strong USL pedigree, opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a goal from Umechi Akuazaoku. Junction FC responded in the 34th minute when Jacen Stein scored the club’s first-ever goal, equalizing the match.

After halftime, Head Coach Erik Oman’s tactical changes paid off. Mani Diop, moved further up the pitch, nearly gave Junction FC the lead with a stunning volley that hit the crossbar. However, Capital FC regained the lead with a goal from Fumiyah Shirashi.

Junction FC’s persistence paid off when Diop scored with ten minutes remaining, securing a 2-2 draw. The team showed they could compete with one of the best in the Northwest division, leaving fans excited for the season ahead.
